I'm kind of loving this manicure. It isn't anything particularly fancy, definitely not hard, and has been seen before..... but, I just think it is lovely. I was putting away some of my Julep polishes and this one purple glitter just kept calling to me. I had to give in and listen!
This manicure is done with three different polishes: ELF Violet Velvet, Pure Ice Mercedes, and Julep Barbara. I started by applying Violet Velvet to all nails (after my base coat, which is just Sally Hansen Hard as Nails). Next, I applied a generous coat of Barbara. Then, I used a thin detailing brush and Mercedes and painted on the
perfectly designed chevron pattern. Let's face it... the chevrons aren't super crisp, but we'll just call them imperfectly perfect. No? :-) OH, my top coat was Out The Door.
I am very pleased with my nails at the moment. They won't tickle everyone's fancy, but they're doing it for me right now. They're not over the top yet have some bling and excitement to them. They all go together, yet aren't all identical. ::shrug:: I'm diggin' it! I am kind of curious if I have a chevron stamping plate, though. Hmmm, I'm going to have to check.
Edited to add: I wanted to mention that I love the opacity of the ELF polish, however, it was difficult to work with. It was almost thick and gloopy from the get-go. I'm going to add a few drops of polish thinner to the bottle to see if that will help. As it stands, though, it wanted to ball up and it was actually creating strings of polish from the nail to the brush each time I'd swipe a strip on and pull the brush away. It was very strange. Also, it doesn't last well on the nails at all. By a little over a day later it was already chipping on several nails. ::sad face::
Let me know what you have on your nails right now!
