Long time, no post! I went to Big Lots a couple of weekends ago and managed to find three nail polishes that caught my attention. I found two Julie G. polishes from the holiday collection and then this little beauty. At first I wasn't certain that I wanted to buy it because I had never heard anything about it. For all I knew, it was a complete dud! However, for a dollar, I figured I would give it a shot.
There is no color name, but the bottle is from a brand that I am assuming is called Holiday Lights. It looks like many other sheer(ish) colors with multi-colored glitter glitter jam packed into it. It reminds me of cotton candy or strawberry funfetti cake! It is just fun, youthful, and girly. It is excitement and a good mood pumped into a polish bottle.
Something that was rather fun about this polish was the light attached at the brush. It is supposed to work kind of like some of those lip glosses that light up so you can see where you are applying the product. There is a little button on the top of the lid. Unfortunately, too many people must have clicked the button because the battery is dead and the light won't kick on. :-( Had I spotted another bottle, I'd have gotten it (had the light worked on it) because that seems like quite a fun feature for polish!
The application was surprisingly easy! I expected to have to dot on the polish to place the glitter and then swipe it on to smooth. That wasn't the case, though! I was able to brush this on like any other nail polish and the glitter just smoothed itself over and (mostly) evenly across the nail.
The first coat was very sheer and I worried that it was a mistake getting. With the second coat, though, more of the pink base color came forward. I did stop at two coats, but a third coat would have likely made it opaque. You can still see some VNL a bit. It wasn't enough to bother me.
Something I noticed was that this polish seemed to dry rather quickly between coats. I enjoyed that. It made for a faster manicuring time.
Overall, I think this is a fun polish and worth owning should you run into them at a Big Lots or a dollar store somewhere. I have done a bit of research and I believe there was also a blue made. I wish I had seen that one. I'd have bought it, too!
