Polka Dot Bikini

::Grumble::  In my head this manicure looked so much cuter!  I had pictured combining two colors that don't typically seem to go well together: yellow and grey.  I have been looking at home decorating photos from vintage periods and often there were splashes of yellow and grey together.  It looks really nice.  I thought I would combine those colors onto my nails in a polka dot design.

The two polishes I used were Julep Brandt (the grey), and Julep Blake (the yellow). In the bottle, Brandt looks like a deep grey.  When I applied it to my nails, it looked black.   I think this would have looked much nicer if the grey appeared grey, and not black.

Make sure your dotting tools are clean of all polish from previous manicures.  If any traces are left behind, you may end up with wiggly dots.  HAHA!  Oh well.

While I love polka dot nails, I don't know that I'll be pairing colors quite like this in that pattern.  This feels awfully loud on my hands right now.

I am wearing two coats of Blake on my middle and ring fingers as well as my thumb.  My index and pinky fingers have one coat of Brandt.  I used the largest size dotting tool I own to create the polka dots.  I sealed everything in with a single coat of Seche Vite.

  1. I'm trying to imagine brandt as a grey to see how your manicure would have turned out. It might look different to what you expected but it doesn't look bad. Just reminds me of a mix of bumble bee and ladybird Lol
