With greens being the projected trend for 2013, I decided I would hop on the bandwagon early and wear this green polish. This is SpaRitual's Twisted Vine. I ordered a mini of this one seeing as I have quite a few other greens. I couldn't get this one out of my head, though, and knew that eventually I was going to have to try it out.
Several years back, I can remember thinking that green polish was rather tacky. After falling head over heels in love with OPI Jade Is The New Black, the doors to green just flew open. I found myself drawn to loads of green polishes. Now, I find rich greens really sexy and, strangely, classy! It is a bit daring, what with being a green, yet not garish and in your face.
This particular polish is a rich, deep shade. Being the odd-ball I am, I decided to try and pin point exactly what kind of green this is. Looking at some color samples, I have to say this is somewhere between 3 shades: Hunter, myrtle, and British Racing Green. Honestly, I didn't realize there was such a thing as "British racing green," though, I suppose that makes sense for the Butter London (British Racing Green) and Barry M. (Racing Green) polishes.
Application was fair. I did notice if you swiped over the same area twice it would create a thin, strange patch. The first coat was uneven and sheer. However, with a second coat everything smoothed over and was uniform. The finish of it isn't quite a full-blown jelly, though it isn't a true creme (in my opinion), either. I would venture to say it is somewhere between the two.
You can buy these from several places, but I ordered mine at Apothica.com. The mini bottle will run you about $5.00

I ADORE this color! So so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThis kind of green is one of my favorites. I really enjoy khaki-green, too.
DeleteYou did not grow up in the times of the 60's and early 70's when British Racing Green was the 'it' color for cars. The color was popularized by the Br. car manuf. Triumph. I did not have the car but I had a Br. Racing Green winter wool good coat to wear!
ReplyDeleteno, no I did not. I was curious as to why there were a few different greens of this type with a relation to racing or cars. Makes more sense! :-)
DeleteGorgeous green, lovely for this time of year I think.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree!
DeleteThis is so pretty, like an old beer bottle green. It was actually an amazing green OPI that made me love greens too, Don't Mess With OPI. One of my favorite polish colours now!
ReplyDeleteThat is a good way to describe the color. I hadn't even thought of it like that. I don't have Don't Mess With OPI, but from the swatches it looks REALLY good... quite similar to Jade Is The New Black, Actually! It is difficult to tell the differences between the two.
DeleteSuch a lovely green!
