Orly: Fowl Play

First off, Happy New Year!  I know I am late in saying that, but I have been busy with life/family/non internet-blogging stuff, so I haven't had a post in 2013 go up until now.  I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas/New Year/Holiday!

This was a manicure I had on in the last couple of days of 2012.  I wanted to wear something that reminded me of confetti, but in a shade that I felt fit the cool weather.  This hit all of those points, for me.  This is Orly Fowl Play.  It is part of their Birds Of A Feather collection from Fall 2011.   I received this in a swap/gift exchange a while back from a lovely friend on Luuux.  I hadn't worn it, though, until just now.
This is such a playful, cool weather kind of color.  Don't get me wrong, it can absolutely be worn whenever you like, but for me, I picture crisp fall or winter days.  It is made up of a sort of jelly-like deep purple base with tons of shimmer and flakie flecks swimming through it.  I pick up silver shimmers but then the flakies are all sorts of colors: red, orange, purple, blue, greenish, gold.  It is really very complex and has a depth to it that mesmerizes me.

It was easy to apply.  I am wearing two coats in these photos.  I feel that was enough for me.  That evened out any thinner patches.  I found it swiped on smoothly and the flakies didn't curl or stick up at the corners (like some can).  They all laid nice and flush with the nail.  You'd think it would have a rough or, at least, slightly unsmooth finish but I didn't find that to be the case at all.

This is going to have to go into my regular rotation more often because of how much I enjoyed wearing it.   Now I need to bust out some of the other colors from this collection and give them a whirl!

Side Note:  If you haven't checked it out yet, swing by my second blog, or my little vanity table, as I'm referring to it.  It contains my thoughts/reviews on other beauty products, not nail related.  I didn't want to flood this blog with reviews of, say, lipstick.  So, I created a second little corner for that kind of stuff.  It is quite new, but so far there are some reviews of different perfumes, lipsticks, some home fragrance, etc.  It can be found by clicking the little "Sprites Vanity" icon in the side bar to the right or by clicking HERE! 3. This made a lot of 'noise' among polish lovers when it came out - it was as close as any polish had come to the fab OPI Midnight Magic that is up there among the 'one's you need to own if you are a true collector. I bought a couple bottles of this to play with as I did not expect it would end up in the classic on going collection as it is now. i think I need to part with it since I have 3-4 bottles of OPI Midnight Magic.

    1. Don't you hate when that happens? I have done the same...think a polish is going to disappear from shelves so I buy a back up, only to find later that they included it in the core collection. (same goes for non-polish related beauty products) haha!
