Christmas Plaid

I am probably more excited about these nails than I should be.  I have wanted to do plaid nails for so ridiculously long, and then it hit me that it would be amazingly fun to do a Christmas plaid!  I'm really enjoying them!  I did several test runs on paper until I came up with a combo that I liked.  Then, the trouble was, which set to use?  The thick red base with the thin green or the thick green base with the thin red?  AHH, decisions!  So, I did what I typically do when I can't make up my mind.  I alternated each nail.  HAHA!  Somehow it worked out well with this manicure.  I think because the design, as a whole, isn't too different from one another...it worked out okay.  And, I still can't decide which one I like best.  Let me know which ones you prefer (if you have a preference).
I started by applying a single coat of Sally Hansen Triple Strong to all of the nails, followed by a coat of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  That polish is getting a lot of use this Holiday season!  I swiped on a thin coat of Seche Vite.  I did this for a couple of reasons.  The first being that I wanted to get the base color dried quickly so I could move on.  The second reason was that I like to have the base color protected away from the design at the top in case I make a mistake or it turns out in a way that I dislike, I can wipe the design off and the base won't come off with it.  Once I was satisfied that the base was dried enough, I moved forward with the design.  I alternated stamping on the thick plaid with Konad Special polish in a red and a green.  Then, I used those same polishes to stamp on a thinner plaid pattern.  I applied one final coat of Seche Vite to seal everything in and add some shine to the manicure.

These macro photos will, obviously, show any and all minor flaws in the stamping, but when I look down at my nails, trust me when I say it is quite cool.  It looks like I have mini scarves on my nails!  That is kind of what they remind me of: a very classic patterned scarf.   It makes me want to find and purchase a similar plaid scarf and go out to some evening Christmas event wearing it along with sexy red lipstick, a cozy hat, warm boots, and a festive dress coat....  or some ridiculousness!  x-D

    1. I believe they were Mash plates--I don't have them near at the moment--I'll have to go check on that when I'm close to them to be certain.
